The best part of working with him is that he helped improve my voice as well as my piano playing. As a songwriter and performer, he had so many tips on how to better those areas as well. You won’t find a more patient and positive teacher!

FIND YOUR VOICE: Voice Classes & Performance Coaching in Northeast LA

Learn from a pro. Bobby Apperson is an award-winning pianist, vocalist, and songwriter of nearly 30 years, and plays, sings, and teaches any style, Bach to Beck.

Vocal coaching and voice classes are individually tailored to your interests, ability, and instrument (your body), covering:

  • Proper vocal technique: how not to strain your pipes! Your body is your instrument. Get a nice, proper sound and be happy with it.
  • Improving tone, pitch, projection, and range.
  • General singing (while playing piano even!) and showmanship; performance style and quality. How to express a song and convey emotion to your audience, even if you are your audience.

I teach voice, piano, music theory, composition and songwriting lessons in Glassell Park/Eagle Rock in Northeast Los Angeles, California. I'm also a performance coach.

I began teaching when I was 16 to my peers and to other kids. Contact me for a lesson, no pressure and no obligations.

I'm a fun-loving but focused, laid back guy. I like doing things the right way while always keeping things fun.

The difference studying with BA Music Studio:

  1. Play Any style. A lot of piano teachers and vocal coaches know classical and/or Broadway. End of list. I've performed, written, and teach anything, including jazz standards, Broadway, and classical (Rachmaninoff to Beethoven), but my favorite to perform is probably piano pop and rock: singer-songwriters, electro and indie pop, and alt / indie rock. I can teach you any style, whether keys are involved or not.

  2. Learn to sing that song, too! I've been singing since I was a kid, both solo and in choirs. I can teach you proper vocals, how to play piano while singing, and then some. Most teachers with a broad piano background can't do this. In fact, I consider myself a hybrid.
  3. Learn to WRITE that song! I have a degree in writing music. I write songs, I compose, and I can teach you to do both, regardless of experience level.

3 teachers in one.
